Think iv'e just wasted £8
brought some yesterday, left it in a bucket to soak overnight,
spooling it on was OK, but once I'm tying my knots, it really goes curly and friction damage, and with the amount of lubricant(saliva) and my neat knots, i'm beginning to see why it isn't in some peoples favour, I'm binning the shi*e
the last stuff i brought was some daiwa tournament ST mono, that worked a treat.
Re: Which Mono line ?

Re: Which Mono line ?
How about PLATIL....this was a very nice line, it was spooled so each following lay of line nestled between the underneath loops, not just looped on anyhow. :

Re: Which Mono line ?
i think at one time it had the best knot strength but it is quite a thick line but very tough line worth that extra moneyesoxjeff wrote:at one time that was the only line i would use, then came along sliced breadMrMakk wrote:i've never used the maxima chameleon,

Re: Which Mono line ?
Dont think its the line mate, just soak in warm water for a couple of hours, and make sure you keep line tight when you spool it on,i had a couple of 5000 shimanos, and i got rid,the line lay was poor, hope you sort it,can be costly, been there done it with line

Re: Which Mono line ?
I use either Maxima Chameleon or Fox Soft Steel Camo.
The Maxima has excellent abrasion resistance and just feels much better quality than some other lines I have used.
Not really had any issues with the Fox either.
I have used the Diawa Sensor but don't think it takes the abuse that the other two lines can.
If I was to pick one mono line though it would be the Maxima.

Re: Which Mono line ?
I can't stand Fox soft steel. I got the most unbelievable amount of line twist when I got a decent fish on.
Any 5lb+ barbel I landed, I have to strip off 20yds of unsalvagable line...
I like sensor a lot, tough and supple.
Maxima... you can tow a barge on their 5lb line but I find it really thick...
Basically, there's no easy answers to this I'm afraid and it's each to their own. I hope you find a line you like mate. and soon! (can get pricey finding your brand)
daiwa sensor/fox soft steel/maxima are all reputable lines so it's a case of suck it and see...
Sorry I'm no help

Re: Which Mono line ?
This is excellent line for the money. Been using it a while now for my carping with no probs. It is very abrasion resistant whilst remaining supple and twist free. Also altho its 18lb line it is still a lower diameter than most 15lb bs lines.
