feeding times.......
whats peoples opinons on pikes natural feeding times?
is it early morning? (if so, what times)
middle morning
late afternoons
evenings?
on my lake i have had my best catches early doors to middle morning. But this saturday gone, sod all but 2 jacks.
2 weeks ago 7 fish to 11am
3 weeks ago 10 fish during the whole day to 6pm
both of my big girls came between 7-8am then no other big fish during the whole day, heaps of jacks though...
any explain?

Re: feeding times.......
on the drains i find its more to do with the periods between pumping water through than particular times of day.
on the rivers and stillwaters i find early morning best after a frost and dusk the day after a rainy night.

Re: feeding times.......
interesting guys..
all river, drains, lakes, ponds are different, so nice to know what you lot have to put up with reference timing.....
think im going to start baiting up with mashed up fish into a paste, less feed and more attactor.

One of the venues I use has a tedency to throw the best and most pike out at around 11am.
One thing I have noticed on a lot of venues is that they have a habit of all the fish turning off during the afternoon. A few of my mates have also noticed this too.

Re: feeding times.......
When I say in the afternoon, this is only for a few hours until around 4-5pm and then they start feeding again. Hope I didn't make people think it was for the rest of the day.

Don't let the rain put you off.
Gavin and me had 4 fish in 20 minutes a couple of seasons ago during a rainy day.

very strange for my lake, 2 weeks ago i walked up and down with the trusty ondex spinner (hammer it on that) and didnt have 1 take.
yet, i had 7 fish including a perch on live baits the week before
week before that, 10 fish on lives and also the spinner.
nothing is taking dead baits as of yet

as regards to feeding times i,ve found results from lakes where they see alot of pressure runs tend to come in the hours of darkness for me
on rivers most productives times for me tend to be at dawn and dusk
and on the drains any time seems to a good time day or night and i wonder if this is as they have direct competition with zander
i,m sure these times will vary depending to a degree with weather fluctuations and also what method is employed such as lures, deadbaits or lives

Re: feeding times.......
after fishing for pike for about 30 years on and off i have found the most productive times are around first light and i mean you get there when it is still dark and i prefere adark over cast type of day.then about 10 .00.......10.30.....one lake i used to fish you could set your watch to the first run it was bang on 10.30 then that was it no more runs but quality fish i just wonder are these fish always in front of you just waiting to come on the feed or are these fish passing through looking for a easy meal...........but dont take these feeding patterns for granted at the end of the day it can all go tits

And Moon Phases mate, can't believe no one has mentioned it yet.
Read and learn about Moon Phases and the random Feeding spells/times all start to make sense.
