For me the far margins have always been most productive. Tight up to reed beds, canal wall structures, under moored boats, overhanging trees etc.
Keep mobile and if you don't catch within 30mins move on.

yep i agree with tootall,leapfrogging eery 30 mins a must,best done when there is a couple/or three of you to cover more water

canal piking
as i have said before on earlier threads i caught my first twenty on the bridge water canal fishing a suspended roach really tight to the bank up against the wall it took it within seconds of dropping it in must have been on its snout.

my lads had a couple out S6, on the ondex.... Make sure you go with someone else, is my advice. Piking wise I would take minimal amount of tackle.... Sardines and a few roach will see you right down there. Let me know how you get on please.

a number 4 Ondex, bronze, as been the best spinner I'v used, by far on the canal, bridges are great features, the pike use the shadow cast by the bridge to hide, have you ever tried looking out of a lit room window out, impossible to see out, go out into the dark and look into a lit room through the window,you see everything, same principle, and the pike use it to thier advantage as an ambush point, the perch love them aswell, you cant go wrong with the ondex.piketastic wrote:my lads had a couple out S6, on the ondex....
