Been out with my old man today to try and get him interested in fishing again. A 15.2 and a 14.8 helped the cause. Great afternoon out. Pics and write up to follow

Re: anybody catching
Took my dad out today after he’s been expressing an interest in having another go at piking recently. Last time he had a go he was a teenager and managed a 4lb jack…time to try and re-ignite that spark from years ago…As he isn’t currently licensed, he agreed just to come along on this session to look at how I rig up, handle the fish on the bank etc
Anyway still being ‘new’ to it I decided to make it a short afternoon session in case he got bored etc….Only out for 4 Hours in the end, but managed 2 fish - 15lb 2oz and 14lb 8oz. The bigger fish was a pug fish I’ve had before from this venue and it’s managed a small weight gain which is good.
Had a great time and I think that he’ll be coming again.
Anyway here’s the pics my dad took of the fish we managed. The fish were caught from exactly the same spot 5 minutes apart…just backs up my theory that the pike on this venue work in teams to corral the bait fish into certain areas. Spooked a third pike out of the far margins whilst playing the second fish, and although we stayed just into dark we didn’t manage a third hook up.
Great day

Canals yeah but Stainforth and Keadby canal is always either matched up on a sunday or choka block with pikers, either way it's hammered
There's a lock, thats 4 to 5 foot deep and gin clear, been and done nothing, and is doing nothing. Went Sunday, the lock had 9 to 10 pikers, all with 2 rods a piece, only 1 maybe 2 came out all day!
Time to try the local reservoirs, rivers and gravel pits
