pike rods for carping ?
Is there any reason why i cant use my Dictator z 3lb tc pike rods for Carping ? Would they be too hard / wrong action ?? anyone know ??
I know i wont be able to cast to the horizon with them as they have loads of rings ( 9 ) and not that big a diameter either.

Thats what i thought Stubbo. Ive got Carp rods as previously mentioned but only 21/4 lb tc. so am limited to what i can sling out.
My biggest Carp ( 18 3/4 Mirror ) was caught years ago on a 9 ft ("East anglian rod co ) Leger Fibreglass rod, cork handles with the rings you slide over the reel handles, 6lb line straight through, 6 hook, 2 grains of corn, mitchell 300 reel. It fought like a Tiger.
I was Chubbing at the time and stumbled across 6 carp, biggest 30 + i reckon. I got the smallest one.

Sounds to me Pikeslag, that they would hold up nicely m8. Youve had a good season with the Carp then m8.
I,m looking forward to trying for Carp as i havnt really done any over the years.
Your Dictator rods, are they the mk2 z Eurospecialist whisker amorphous ??

I used my old Dictator Z's (nevs) for carping for a couple of seasons and they were brilliant.

Re: pike rods for carping ?
only stopped using mine as i got some greys rods on the cheap for my carping and was getting sick o changing my reels/spools over all the time as i was (at the time) carping one weekend, piking the next...would happily go back to the dictators again if the opportunity arose!
