Why not have a third rod that gives you other options the dic z is a fairly middle of the road thing ie it does everything ok other rods will allow you to go further in a given direction ie lighter slightly softer tip for close in stuff with soft deads lives etc, big rod bid test curve for longer range bigger baits.......

mmm, theres a thought noodle.
i,m just one of those who likes stuff to be neat and the same really, and i really do like the rods. i use the with shimano aero gt4000 baitrunners and have done for years. served me great so far. there are probably much better reels on the market now, but i just know what i like i guess.
i know deep down i couldnt go for something different, it would bug the hell out of me. ( bit of a perfectionist in everything i do unfortunately ) . i dont mind change on lots of other stuff so i,m not stuck in my ways really. honestly ! LOL !

the old shimano gt4000 baitrunners like i have really are superb reels. ive had them probably 18- 20 + yrs and ive never even serviced them. they run as smooth now as the day i brought them.
everyone to there own. wouldnt do for us all to be the same.

I have the xte-a 10000's. I dont think your casting range with the biomasters would be much greater. I upgraded from 8000 gt's to 8000 gtes then on to these. Altho i dont use the baitrunner feature much for pikeing the gearing and gubbins are second to none. I think the diawas have came along way in the last 10 years cause my friend had 3 reels cant remember the model but they were piss poor at best. TBH your chucking range is limited even with a 3 1/2 test rod and half a lamprey it doesnt matter what you do the aerodynamics just dont work

ah its just as well im not faffing around with piddley little 8/10000's daiwas have always been second to none, just most people couldnt buy them, or were unaware of what was on offer, pm's emblems. going back to ss9000 millionmax's
if you think new shims are good well come back in a few years when they break and you will see why 90's models fetch a premium
things like the old gt4500 baitrunner aero's seaspins biomasters....
Biomaster spool on the left my distance reels spool on the right and aerodynamics can be modified why use 3.5's my light distance rod happens to be that but the action is far more important than a rating as vague as its test curve
Re: daiwa dictator z pike rods
We'll I've never had one break on me in 20 years. And as they say if it ain't broken don't fix it. If your happy with your reels then good on you. That's a personal choice and not one that me or anyone else can make for you. I myself wouldn't have them or can think of a situation I could use them.

jesus ! look at the size of those spools ! i would need to go weight training just to have the strength to turn the reel handle.
they must be as big as a bus !!

They were a mistake buy tbh i thought the 6000 size would be akin to a normal big pit sized 6000 daiwa.
Opps worked out ok though but its mad they have 300 m of 0.36 powerpro on them and without it they look like match depth spools
