Re: am i fishing too heavy
The wire is a bit light tbh
For baits the lightest i use is 30 lb well and 28lb from drennan but i usually use 40 lb carboflex for everything
Rods braid all ok ive just stepped down to 2.75's for smaller waters, bear in mind my rods were mostly 3.25 to 5.5 with a couple of lighter ones for little baits, soft baits etc. But now im fishing less on the glacials and more on rivers etc so some softer rods are in order

i agree you're about spot on,, but i too use minimum 28lb wire. i use 15lb mono mainline and 15lb trace wire for up traces with 2.75 rods for their great action. dont forget that even small canals can hold massive pike

i'd say you're about spot on except for the rod... for small canals/rivers i prefer to use 2 1/4lb tc as i've always found the lighter test curve to be alot more forgiving close in. tbh i'd prefer 15lb berkley big game mono over braid for the same reasons.

Sounds fine to me mate apart from the trace !! as noodle said 28lb-30lb is good
I use 2.75lb rods and 50lb braid on canals and they are spot on

agreed! i used to use it all the time but i decided to try daiwa sensor a few seasons back.... i think my reels breathed a sigh of relief when i reloaded them with big game again in september.
