Update on ice in Hull area
In case any members are thinking of driving out to any venues north of Hull
I might be able to save you a trip as I went on a reconnaissance trip today.
HDAA ponds - Brandesburton.
From a distance they look ice free in places but the ice is slowly melting with water settling on the top but throw a stone in and its solid!!
The only pond fishable is pond no.2
Farmers Ponds - Brandesburton.
All 3 ponds are still iced over. Exactly the same as the HDAA ponds
Leven canal - Leven.
This has slowly started to melt around the bridge area but still icy patches in that area.
As you move away from the bridge the ice gets thicker making it impossible to fish.
Biggest problem is the owner has dug up all the vegetation on the bank side, so its rough and muddy until your half way down the canal. (where the ice is!)
River Hull - Baswick
I've never been here before so thought I'd go for a look around.
The river is up with flood water from the melting snow.
Water slightly coloured and no debris coming down as yet.
Looks like I'm off to the river then.
Might give further upstream a go.
