i have shimano 1000s and i cannot rate them highly enough get loads of hammer and have never let me down. I did get an okuma interceptor as a freebie and its fine as a back up though it did freeze solid in adverse weather lol Very Happy

id be changing the grease

my spanky new longcasts did that when i got them

it was one of only two fualts i could pin on them

teh other

how heavy does a reel need to be

love my longcasts..not frozen yet?was it the grease noodle,?can you get a grease that dont freeze?

yes you can Nick, its all down to how much Lithium is in grease, and wether you use low or high load ratings. re shimano reels Icon_biggrin

sorry Nick.....one has a high load capacity, only suitable for heavy bearings and the like. re shimano reels Lol
