Re: Anybody Catching
perhaps an old fish? like us they maybe slow down and don't hunt as well when they get old. eat enough to survive mabe but don't thrive? certainly looks healthy enough

short session today 4 hours
been out today again
good god 3 days on the trot , thats good for me ...
had a strange day today , having lost a big fish on the same peg thought I would give it a go again as the peg was free
set up 2 deadbait rods hard on the bottom trout and tail end of mackerel ...fished. well beyond the ledge.
which resulted with not a sniff on these rods....
the previous day I tried a bit of dropp shotting for the first time , with a few good bites and a
couple of small perch , so not to bad to start with. so decided to set a rod up for catching a decent perch
20lb braid 10lb wire trace and a size 4 hook link ledgered for sensitivity , fished a very small roach probably about 1 and a half inch so really tiny.
just before I cast this out I thought to myself I bet a big pike takes this .
it bloody did fifteen minute later and straight in to bloody ledge snag ... could not do a thing with this fish could not even turn it ..
then turned my attension to dropp shotting again and got bitten off twice ... obviously pike but was after a decent perch
quite a eventful day but sadly no fish to show for it
any advice to how to fish a peg with a steeply shelving ledge about 15 to 20 foot out would be helpful ... it a difficult one this as you have to get the fish over this and big fish too ......help

Re: Anybody Catching
Just started the downpour here , I've managed to sort a trip out tomorrow . I agree Welsh piker , the rain is horrible ...... I don't mind it though when I am under the shelter , it's when you are setting up in it that can really spoil the whole day , hope it's not raining at 5 in morning .
I am itching - haven't been able to get for a couple of weeks .

Finally
After a long time trying different venues I think I've finally found the kind of place I've been looking for, it seems to have a good head of pike and prey fish and doesn't get hammered, my first outing last weekend resulted in not a sniff, while my uncle who was about 25 yards down the bank had 4 to 16lb 9oz. Second visit this morning my uncle had 1 about 8lb and I upped my pb by 2oz to bang on 12 lb. Reports of a 28 coming out 2 weeks ago and every other fish being a double! Sounds great, I shall be putting some time in here til March,

Re: Anybody Catching
Well done bud told you you would be into them soon :-) well done on your PB more to follow soon I hope
Your float rig has it got a up trace on it ? from the snap tackle to the float ? if not it might be worth having on as the pike sometimes come up from below and can take your line in their mouth and bite you off

Float rig
Hi all, no weight under the float until the bait goes on, as different baits require different weights,I usually fish this a couple of foot off the bottom with lives or deads as the leger rig is on the bottom and I like to have baits at different depths unless one starts producing more than the other then I can swap them to both fish the same

Well in my neck of the woods the forecasted deluge didn't come , just a bit of wind today and a bit of rain . Had a trip out with MBA and managed 2 runs , I caught the first😀 and lost the 2nd 😟. Great chance to catch up with each other Gary , cheers.
Anyway , When it rains it pours ....... I landed a 20 pound 2 ounce pike . Thanks Gary for the pics and thanks Adie for uploading
