Re: Barton, Lincs Fish-in
hmmm interestingly i know of one venue near barton which i've only ever coarse fished, and never seen anyone fishing for pike. still i've seen pike upto about 15lb at my keepnet and the place certainly has the potential to produce alot bigger fish than that. anyone interested in doing the next fish-in there??
i'm not making any guarantees about the fish other than that there are some in there and from what i can tell they get very little if any pressure. obviously i'll keep the venue name off the forum on this one but i can notify everyone via pm once i get a few responses on this thread of people interested in my lil "experiment" mwhahahaha

ok apart from the date (which i may move to the middle of february if necessary) upto now we have:
myself
bradfordlad
kell
steve french
any others interested let me know on this thread and i'll add you to the list
p.s. steve its one of the big ponds close to the little pond we fished earlier this year but keep the exact locale hush hush for now
also i've just checked the venues website and day tickets are £5 1 rod and £7 2 rods.... its a little expensive i admit but as i have already said there is alot of untapped pike potential so it may be worth it

Re: Barton, Lincs Fish-in
I've just emailed them the following message:
Hi there,
I am writing in regards to a possible group day trip to your fishery. We are considering fishing the main lake in mid-February, targeting the pike. I fished the North End of the lake a few years ago and had a 15lb pike nudging my keepnet during a coarse fishing session.
I see from your website that things have changed somewhat since I last visited. Could you tell me, when you took over the fishery did you remove the pike or leave them in the lake? I am asking because, if you left them you may have some untapped potential there.
Also, the group that are wanting to visit are from pikeangler.co.uk forums, and will be a group of approximately 5-10 pike anglers (possibly more). Would you be able to accomodate that group, and what would the cost be? Do you offer discounts on the day ticket price for larger groups?
If you would like to keep track of what is going on or even join in the conversation on the forum please feel free, you will find the thread concerning this trip under the "dates and events" section with the title: Barton, lincs fish-in.
I have not as yet named the venue on the forum for the purposes of protecting a possibly unknown pike stock from being over-fished and dissipated like so many other fisheries I have known.
Thankyou in advance of your reply.

Put me down as a 'possible'
I won't be able to give you a definite answer until we find out the exact date and even then, won't be able to give a full "yes" or "no" until probably the week before. This is due to how our lass's work does the rota.
Fingers crossed that I'll be able to make it. If I can't get my mate gav to go I may have to scrounge a lift off one of you local guys

Re: Barton, Lincs Fish-in
Well I'd love to join you all but can't commit myself just yet.
Only fish week days as I'm a shift worker but if it falls on my few and far between FULL weekend off I might be able to get a pass off the misses. lol
I'll follow the thread and see how it goes.

Re: Barton, Lincs Fish-in
i have fished plenty of those barton waters rob, never for pike as this is my first year, but i do know alot of them hold some very good pike, in fact one water had a cull 3 years ago and a 30+ was caught, i know this as i know the owner of the lake, he never lets pikers on there normally and i'm not sure how many of them will allow fishing for pike, if you get the go ahead i would try my best to make the day mate.

Re: Barton, Lincs Fish-in
ok then!!!! now the cellars fish in has a date i can set one for this event lol....... its either going to be the 28th february or 7th of march (they are both sundays).... i'll be totally honest and say that my car tax is also due at the end of february so i'll budget and see which one i can do.
i still havent heard anything from my original venue choice so i'm ditching it in favour of one near brandesburton that does have a tendency of throwing out a few big fish.
final choice of venue: farmers ponds. day ticket is £3 for this set of lakes.
once i have the final list of people attending i'll pm you all directions as the three ponds are quite easily missed if you dont know your way around the backroads up there.
