spinning with pike flys...great in winter
hi for few years ive been spinning with large flys as a change method with great results. using roach or perch pattern adding some lead to the trace near the swivel then bouncing the rig slowly across the bottom twitching etc, the flys i buy have a small piece of foam near the eye wich keeps them suspended of the bottom about 20 inches, great in winter and works great...you only need to lob it out a few metres then watch as you twitch it back works a treat, used the same method in summer with a normal cast and retrieve style with intermittent twitching with really good results and excellent hook ups, added a stinger size four midway down fly on some and again good results..have a try it works excellent,,,will explain the rig with adjustable lead etc which determines how the fly glides to anyone interested in trying..

Sounds similar to fishing the booby for trout on a sinking line.
Certainly worked verry well but got banned on a lot of catch and release venues due to the trout engufing the flys.
Would imagine it would need a fair bit of bouyancy to counteract the wieght of the big hook and the trace but sounds like it could be devastating on the right day.
