The amur pike, pike is a subspecies native to the Amur River and its tributaries. También lo existen poblaciones de esox reichertii en la isla de Sakhalin, así como en numerosas masas lacustres en la región del río del cual recibe su nombre esta subespecie, a lo largo de la Federación Rusa, Mongolia y República Popular China. So there reichertii esox populations on the island of Sakhalin, as well as numerous lakes masses in the region of the river which is named this subspecies, along the Russian Federation, Mongolia and China.

Looks to me like the body of a brown trout with the head of a pike,
But a real buety,,,

I am the dude who wrote about it in his blog, unfortunately the original version is in Spanish, anyway the tranlation option seens to work, more or less.

Is due to its distribution, located only the Amur River area, although It was unsuccessfully introduced in USA during the late 60´s and early-mid 70´s, the main reason why this pike is, for most of the anglers, a complete extrange.

Paddy if you finally go to the Amur don´t forget to go for the real Siberian moster, the taimen or Siberian salmon. But I think that your wife is gonna chain you before you have the chance.

It was thanks to this post that a I found this site. I love to learn day by day about this amazing animal, and is in the British pikefishing where many anglers all around Europe should check to learn how to give a respectfull and propper treatment on their pike catches.
