The river pike season has started for me now. Second swim resulted in this hard fighting pike of 11lb 1oz, which got me snagged up at one point (I put the rod in the rest and waited 5 mins for it to unsnag itself, which it did!).

Anybody Catching - Page 2 3367D8C6-F205-4D2D-9876-9AD382DD73CB_zps6jdlyuua

Four or five swims later, the drop off indicator released and line started pouring out the spool. I struck immediately and landed this longer but leaner pike of 12lb 1oz.

Both fish swam away strongly after a quick snap. I also ended up with one leg in the river at one point after the bank collapsed, sod.

Happy days

Cheers both. They were in tip top condition, great fight as well. The local river throws up some lovely looking fish

Well done on the chew fish mate. It's a definite challenge just to bank something on there

I had my first times out with baits this weekend Saturday was a good day landing 10 pike with a few coming adrift 2 on lives and 8 on deads, were all mostly in the 9-10lb bracket with the best going around 12-13 but they were all still on the slim side, back out Sunday afternoon afloat and managed 2 pike best going 15lb but still long and thin with a big head so they need abit more munch Anybody Catching - Page 2 Image11

Off Norfolk for 4 days from Friday so fingers crossed their Very Happy

Was off river still lean but it had some good length to it, I'm sure Avon's didn't say 25 Laughing I weigh very little most get unhooked by boat but weighted this out of curiosity cos of the length, it didn't half pull good tho, found them really athletic this year still one on Saturday come clean out by boat and body dropped my other rod still in rest, lucky plastic rod holder didn't go along with my rod downstream

It's a funny game pike fishing - we were fishing a lake in Yorkshire today. We set up in a double swim fishing no more then 30 yards apart. My mate Jeff had 10 fish before I had a bite. He finished up with 12 to my 4 - we did have two fish 13 & 13.5 lb.
