water proofs
any one got any pointers for some good quality bib and brace and jacket combos that really are waterproof? was looking at the greys apollo then read some feedback on a sea site that said they are s***e and let water through like a sieve!
don't want to be paying daiwa gore tex prices either although its top stuff. theres a lot of gear about but have been using skiing sallopettes for the last two years but now no longer waterproof as suffered" wet blep" syndrome in the boat at blenhiem on sunday! any ideas appreciated

Waterproofs
Take a look at the Nash stuff. I've been using their over trousers for a fair while and they are completely watertight. Plenty of pockets, good fit, no problems! When my Keela jacket dies I'll be replacing it with more Nash stuff!

I don't own these myself but I have a mate that does and he pretty much agrees with the reviewer on the page.

Re: water proofs
If you just want a waterproof thats not a problem Vass and Ocean do very good ones. The problem comes when you want
it to breath IE to take sweat away from the body. In a boat thats not a problem has you are not moving round. I have tried
all the fishing market ones over the years they all leak in heavy rain. I now have a Halkon Hunt but they are expensive.

Re: water proofs
did think about the military gore tex but trying to get away from the camou look!
i might see about the greys strata stuff if i can find some reviews on it. i have tried so much gear over the years as all of a sudden it becomes" not waterproof" and its just woeful if your out in the boat with nowhere to hide!

Re: water proofs
to be honest the old fashioned rubbers are totally waterproof but can be cold when the chill factor drops no matter what you have oncoops440 wrote:did think about the military gore tex but trying to get away from the camou look!

I use one for my winter sea fishing but are a bit restrictive for movement better with the 2 piece ideal on a boat in winter sounds daft but can be a bit to warm on a mild day

Re: water proofs
Wax for me I also have gore stuff and buffalo gear but you can't beat a good old wax jacket and floppy wax hat
cheap n cheerful
Being a right tight sod, I picked up a new and unused knee length Czech army winter coat for 35 quid from my local army n navy shop. I've never worn a warmer windproof coat, ever.
It's had to be waterproofed by hand and has only had one test of the wet stuff so far.......but am really impressed with it.
