Re: Anybody catching?
good luck fella,av you used pva taoe or string tyed round bait?you can chuck out better then without fear of bait falling off.even pva bags ok ,one word of warning with bags, put holes in or they fill with air on cast an then bait/bag floats to top thensinks slowly.ok if you fish on top of weed beds ect doe.

hi rob. it's just a plastic feeder. you get three round leads which fit inside it then put your pellet in it and screw the top on. the pellets are sold in 3 different types. i had blood and oil. i'm sure bait box sells them. thats the second time i've used them and it was the first rod to get a run on both outings.

sounds like an interesting idea to try on the kind of waters i fish.... big gravel pits where the pike like oily baits with plenty of smell to them. i might just try getting hold of some to try myself

Re: Anybody catching?
thats twice ave used them and had results. it said on the packet that thay should desolve into particals then you wind in your bait to sit ontop of it. but mine never done that and one pellet done 5hrs.
the sport shop ran out of them, so thay are populer with pikers.
the first time i used them tho i never took the wraper of the pellet as i never saw it but the top and bottom were free to leak out. so it lasted the whole day

Re: Anybody catching?
hi guys. well me and MBW got back today from our trip. had a great weekend, but no pike. not even a run on dead baits . we did manage 6 trout between us on lures, and lost a couple as well best was around 3lb great fun. high light of the weekend though was seeing a pair of peregrine falcons and an even rearer red kite, great to watch these wild birds flying around us, even got a photo. fishings not just about the fish.
only sad note to the weekend, MBW lost my salmo slider

Re: Anybody catching?
I'd rate the pike bombs...been using them a while now and they have really improved my catch rates this season....looks like the secret's out Thay're well designed and easier and cleaner than making up some other sort of pike feeder with sponge and fish oils etc
I had them down as a gimmick too until i saw my mate using some on a session and the ammount he caught that weekend far outweighed what i got.

Sound like you had a great weekend Mad Bad Angler, thats the great pleasure of our hobby, watching what is going on around us, most anglers i know are great nature lovers, it makes you wonder who leaves all the litter we see and clear up from the banks. i had these Pike bombs down to another gimmick too, maybe i will give them a try too.

Re: Anybody catching?
They sell Pike Bombs at my local Tackle Shop & people certainly are buying them. I would quite happily try either them or pre-baiting with chopped Mackerel etc.
2 Peregrines eh, well spotted MBA. Have seen Shelduck & a Sparrowhawk + a Robin ON my rod but not as yet any Peregrines. You are privileged, both of you

Re: Anybody catching?
i new that 2 Peregrines lived in the area but never thought i would see them, and as for the red kite, well i didnt know they were so rare till i looked them up. only 43 breeding pairs in yorkshire, and thought wiped out in 1900?? how lucky to see 3 such magnificent birds in the same place at the same time

Re: Anybody catching?
I eventually had a good result today, got down to The Trent and discovered I had taken 2 halves of different rods with me ??? (I was only fishing 1 rod to keep light and mobile) Finally got fishing and had 2 great fish, the best one going to 17lb+ stripping line like it was a carp. I think I was the only angler on the river today, no one else brave/mad enough! Great!
