Had a go on a local river today its been in flood and the fields are still under water but the main river is settling down now so thought I would have a go   
Had a very lively 5lber that tail walked twice    love it when they do that   
Then on the last cast just as I was giving in this nice little 12lber took my deadbait just as I was bringing it in   



I know there's bigger girls in there so I will be back

Off work now untill monday so in 2 minds weather to try the canal or the local pool, i keep blanking on both at the moment so really dont no what to do

Had a good fish strike 3 times at deadbait on the surface as i was reeling in and 3 times i missed it
Out again tmoz on a different venue

had a great day out today with adie, i had 9 runs, 4 dropped, one on and off again, one at around 8lb, one at around 9lb, this one at 12lb 9oz


and this one at 11lb 4oz

Great stuff rozzo,couple of nice fish there.
I was back on the drain this afternoon,dropped a small one off straight away,then a fat 7lber on the near margin rod on a sprat,then pulled out of another small one.A nice 12lber took a half lamprey on the far bank margin.Then my luck was out,packing up at dusk the lamprey rod went and I was into a very good fish,felt like another 20,but it came to the surface and threw the hooks  .

And Rozzo well done mate      he was in the right peg today lol I only had two out best around 5lb but enjoyed helping Rozzo with his     
I'm happy as long as someone is catching while I'm with them     

nice fish Steve gunna try a canal 2moz lamprey is what im going with how did you hook it regards Darren the lamprey not the pike  

daz if you have full lampreys cut them into halves m8, they bleed like mad then,  i have em around 6inch lengths with 1st hook in the tail root or the snout tube and the other an inch from the other end so i can strike instantly.  watch out when they thaw,, slimey buggers lol  
be prepared to sit on em m8 and let the blood and scent oose out into the water as if you move em you lose the best of the scent trail i think

Just as rozzo says mate,cut in half,I just nick the hooks under the skin as they are as tough as old boots.A perfect bloody slimey bait for coloured water.Down side is the price of them,but well worth it.It's always a bonus if after one fish you get your bait back.Good luck.

Dont just cut them in half across the diameter, cut them diagonally as the cut surface area will be larger and bleed more.

also good bait to pop up and to be selective in the size as well caught pike on 25mm sections in the past single trebs

cheers fellas for the advice did not get out today but car all packed and ready for a morning session will let you see pictures of the pike tomorrow  i hope

blanked today but my m8 caught two so not all bad

been out the last 4 days running and 4 blanks on the run not to mention the blanks prior to these, last time time this happened i caught my pb at the end of feb so you never no,ill keep trying
