Anybody Catching

I had to work hard for this one
6 hours of casting
But in the end determination (read stubbornes) paid off

Do you put a dead/livebait out on another rod while casting lures Dave? are lives even allowed, they arent in R.O.Ireland.

Truth is I only fish lures I love being mobile and actively looking for pike
Lives are allowed
I especially love fishing jerkbaits
With a jerkbaits it's you that brings it to life
Not the guy who shaped the lip and lure
It also allows you to fish extremely creatively
I can send it to the right or left half a meter per meter retrieved so I can fish it round or slalom it thru lilly pads
And when you send it gliding under an obstacle then let it sink a bit then give the rod a firm jerk
And that almighty bang follows the feeling of satisfaction is uncomparable because you put the lure under there
You triggered the fish you put the puzzle together
And on water with big pike I'll go head to head with a deadbaiter any day
At times I bring the jerkbaits in in a slow glide and let it settle on the weeds then use the beast of a rod
To smack it loose
The bait shoots forward with a cloud of sediment behind it
This triggers even the most weary and experienced pike

It is all about the HIT Dave, i love drop shotting from the boat in 10 meter of water, when the Perch shoals start their attack it is like electricity shooting up your arm lol. I fly fish for pike too and the action from a good streamer is far sexier to watch than any jerkbait. The way it gives a little pulse of life and flicks left to right. Magical that theres so many ways to catch our chosen adversary

Hard day today had 5 followers
Nothing wanted to bite
And at last light an absolute monster missed my goddam jerkbait by an inch
And did not come in for another go as I spooked her  (was right in front of my feet)

Oh sickening Its better to not see them sometimes lol. At least you know where she lives Dave.

Another disturbing day 6 followers but I managed to **** one of enough to atack

In Ireland we have an East wind and high air pressure. that always seems to turn the fish off. Excuses time lol.

After blowing my chance on the canal and losing one I went to a different water and my luck improved somewhat

Went to the canal today
Started throwing and at one point I let the bait stop next to some bushes
Out shoots a brave jack about 40cm long
Rest of the afternoon was quiet until at one point a dark cloud covered the sun
And it was instant action
Out of nothing I saw jumping small fish where I had just been throwing
Put it there again gave it 2 jerks and boom 60 cm
I had just spent 10 minutes throwing that spot
And the sun went less bright and it turned them on like a lightswitch

First of all can I say your English is fantastic Dave. Secondly your enthusiasm is contagious too I am still going to beat you to that spring 20 though lol lol lol. Jesus Craig you fish more venues lol. Your memory must be full of little back lanes, and holes in fences used after dark Good luck this weekend. I am after Trout Sunday and Pike next week

I must admit Andy , I do think I chase "potential" places perhaps a bit more than I should. This time it paid off, 3am this morning , coming 2 hours after an eel of a couple of pounds ate my roach, a screamer on mackerel tail , caught me this one.

Had a great afternoon at the trout,  and the weather was fantastic.  Catching a PB for someone whose been fishing for over 40 years is tough,  but I managed it    Well done Mick on your 4lb 7oz and I came in second with a 3lb 11oz gem.

Wel done dude

Went out casting a few hours
Got a bite fairly quickly then it started pouring down
The rain was icy cold and the venue is 3 foot deep
So needles to say game over
Glad I managed to get the one
