Mr Makk asked me about the lure I caught my 12lb'er with last week

Right bad news first, I threw the box away for that lure last week so that pic I posted in my report is the only evidence. it should have been £10 but I got it for £7.25 in a sale.

it is the first big lure I ever brought, I only really brought it for a laugh because it was massive. then I brought a spinning rod and a new reel and some line and a few other bits. I only nipped into the shop for some frozen bait. but I was like a kid in a sweet shop Very Happy .

First time I took the lure to a river I gave it a little cast and it went for miles and landed in a field Shocked , I was only used to casting tiny spinner shads. I decided the big lure was not too good for a river at the moment. To be honest I thought it was too big too use anywhere but then I started reading on websites that certain fisheries will not let people use small lures under 6-8inches long Shocked

so last week I was fishing on a stillwater (deadbaiting) and I was getting cold so I got a small spinner shad thing out and chucked it out a few times with no joy. I decided I would get the big lure out and have a play, the beauty of this lure was that due to its weight I could chuck it out a long way.

I spent a while chucking it around the lake, no-one else was near me on the lake so I was not disturbing anyone. nothing was happening but I was really enjoying chucking the lure about and got carried away. eventually I was winding the lure in and it caught on something which I thought was just weed so I carried on retrieving the lure and it snagged again..........then pulled the other way so I struck and played in my first ever 12lb Pike Very Happy Cool

I cannot wait untill my next trip to the fishing shop, I will be buying a load more big lures Very Happy

ah its the suspending model so it should sink very slowly with a stainless leader on it and slower still with a seven strand one of 80lb or so
