Re: anybody catching
not quite sure but alot look like bacterial type infections, ulcer, mybe small cuts that have became infected have caught o lot of fish over the years with some very nasty big open holes in them , but they are obviosly healthy enough to feed and swim off strongly they could be stress related or just bad handled over the season or could be the water quality i know other fish do cause quite a lot of damage to them self when mating.....

how come one of your hands is black.......LOL
Thats some nice opportunist fishing there! Cracking fish, lovely color to it! Well done!
Isnt the black hand meant to be at the head end?

Re: anybody catching
First piking session for a while for me today, river session, a blank unfortunately. Not down-hearted though, if anything cant wait to get back out again. I think the change in temps did it, last week i was happily fishing for barbel then suddenly, yesterday, i put my heating on for the first time in ages. That seemed to get me thinking about pike!

Hi James. Its a very nice pike. I've added it to the gallery.

Roach fishing eh? That could come in handy during the winter

Re: anybody catching
Hi Andy, thanks for that. I'm finding my local rivers hold some beautifully marked pike.
I'm intending to do some livebaiting very shortly (this weekend in fact), the roach rod is coming along!

Yes well noticed! When your camera is on timer, and your pike is the wrong way round, you tend to make ends meet!

Re: anybody catching
been out on the swale most of the season, nothing big to report yet,a few doubles and a shed load of jacks,im loving every take that comes my way as i tend to float fish always, something magical about seeing that float begin to twitch, dart then sail away.

Re: anybody catching
Little baby pike in difficult river conditions today, it was chocolate brown. Great to be back out pike fishing the rivers, and was good to have the float dissapearing out of sight.

1st of the Season
Had my first trip out on one of my local drains today. Took my young cousin out with me to try teach him a few things. Down at the drain for sunrise and from 10 till 12:30 there where 275 triathalon runners jogging past my swim. But even this didn't ruin my day, as I thought it would, as at about 11 I saw that float just knock and drift off and 5 minutes later a prestine condition 5.5lb pike to put a huge grin on both our face and a few scared looks on the runners lol. We had one more run but due to liking to strike early, so as not to risk deep hooking, possibly big momma pike evaded capture just for today.
Pic to come.

Had my first session out this autumn on a local venue and managed a brace of 11lb 3 & 12lb 6, but that was after i had a hook pull after a wee fight and then to top that off again! just as i was netting the next one
All in all thought great to get out again and did'nt blank first trip out.
