Re: Anybody Catching
Glad you managed to get them out Gaz i was worried you were going to blank mate
I've added another 5 to my list in the last 2 days
3 while i was with Gaz yesterday and 2 the day before that takes my total this season ( pike season ) up to 44
Can't seem to find the big girls though 16lb being the best so far
Off on a local river next week so fingers crossed

In fact since 31/10/93 first pike to 17/12/96 I only had 36 then stopped fishing, went a couple of times in 06 and caught 1, Then from 19/11/11 to present ive had 12,
A grand total of 49, I'm either doing some thing wrong or I'm moving to Yorkshire

Re: Anybody Catching
This will sound like I am bragging now but your posts have made me realise how good we have it over here in Ireland. I have just had a friend over and we Pike fished for 6 days straight, We had between the 2 of us 99, runs and landed 58 pike. The best fish being Neils at 23lb 11oz. he had 2 17lb fish too. (he comes from Norfolk and has never had fishing like it). Long live the Irish hard fighting Pike.
He managed a nice brace too at 17lb 3oz and 9lb.

Re: Anybody Catching
Wild trout from a wild water, Both caught in 30ft of water within 10 minutes of each other on small roach 4oz deads, a real nice surprise. 8lb 9oz and 8lb 5oz. Thats 5 over 8lb now and I really want a double.
Re: Anybody Catching
Lovely big trout mate. I would suggest joey mackerel for big trout mate. It works on every brownie water I know of and it's accounted for more big trout to pikers than I can shake a stick at. On a couple of waters I know, you get pestered by big trout using mackerel and if I was to scale down, use single hooks and maybe a lighter trace material, I'd hook up far more often but it's never the target. It's what I'd be using if I was inclined though.
Very tempting now that I'm thinking abut it...

Re: Anybody Catching
The water I caught these from has done fish to over 15lb but I have witnessed them to 11lb 8oz on Mackeral from here. I like the thoughts of what could be next and these huge Irish waters keep you guessing. Love it You dont really have to scale down for the Trout as they are probably greedier for than the pike, the times they miss and re hit a lure over and over again in unreal. They arent stupid but they are a fierce predator at that size.
Re: Anybody Catching
Last week had five days fishing on a private loch in Scotland again, we had 28 fish the two biggest 13.5 & 15 lb

Not had the boat out yet been doing some small jobs on it. Going to run the engine tomorrow and check out the
electronics. My plan was to have it ready for the end of March hopefully when the weather warms up. Are you
still up for a trip out?
