Anybody Catching

Spacee1122. thank you for the videos but i am afraid they arent very good for showing fish welfare Dragging fish onto the hard bank and using a Boga style grip for Pike is totally unacceptable. i hope you are not on the waters that I fish.

We had 5 pike the other day to end the season.

I hope you all had a good season. I fished 31 days and caught 54 fish in total, 2 of which were over the magic 20lb mark.
We were hampered at the beginning of the season by all the floods and later on with sickness which took me out of the game for a month. I've clocked up a few thousand miles from travelling to fish from one end of the country to another. Going to get the boat out over the next few weeks and fish the glacier lakes, am trying to catch a ferrox trout before out annual trip to Ireland.  Then it's back to Chubb and Barbel fishing.

Congratulations to Stubbo for his 30lb pike - I'm not jealous but my quest to catch that elusive 30+lb pike continues!!

That's all - back in September and looking forward to my first trip to Chew Valley in November.

myself have been very ill for 3 weeks but on the mend now thankfully... might get a few trips on the boat lures only.

Sorry to hear that Stubbo, I thought you were off after the Pigeon. speedy recovery mate They are starting to come on the feed over here again so it will be lures all the way in a couple more weeks

picked up a very nasty flu virus , then chest infection and sinus infection then bust a rib coughing my gonads off.......was feeling very sorry for myself ..... been off work for 3 weeks and that's not me...deffo having the flu jab this year.....

yes been on the pigeons and had the best 5 weeks ever

Went to the caravan for a few days over Easter, we had family down, Harvey age 10 wanted to go fishing on a small pond down the road. He has taken to it with real enthusiasm ( just like me) within minutes of casting about he was into a fish he could not believe it. After 20 minutes he had another pike on but it came off. For me it was just a pleasure to take him fishing but when he caught the fish the picture speaks for itself.........

60 and 90 cm

Well done Dave, the weather looks nice too. Great conditioned fish. I was out on Saturday and had 5 small Pike to about 7lb and missed 5 more.

Well done lads . Looks very pikey there Dave. I went out Saturday , I was blanking but seeing them in front of me , every now and then. Then splashes in the reeds , spawning time had finally arrived at that venue , so we packed up and let them get on with it. It was great to see them , I reckon the 5 or 6 that we saw were all jacks , they were about up to the size of Dave's bigger fish.

Great thing about there is that I have not met another pike angler yet in 6 complete run around
Its difficult as hell but one of the local old geezers (pole on whitefish)who respected the fact I kept trying despite 5 blanks
And with whom I have a chat every time told me to keep trying as it houses several 120 cm plus fish (30ies)
Its about 2 km round but it takes 5 6 hours if you want to do it right as it's obstacle rich
Its a pike anglers dream

My own slice of heaven

Was not busy at work
So I took up 2 hours overtime and went casting for a few hours
It paid of got one 60cm


And one 92cm chunky fat one
I'm having one hell of a week

Great looking fish Dave , they are well marked. Good condition too. Is it the same venue ? You seem to have clicked all of a sudden there , nice one .

I went round loads of times and nothing
But I spent a whole day walking round watching the spawning
And the numbers I saw and the size led me to believe I was fishing like an idiot
There is a large population of large fish
And I wasn't catching
So I switched up a bit and at one point got into a conversation with a pole angler
And spent a half hour making the same cast enjoying his most amusing anecdotes and soaking up the info (and watching him catch well over 70 roaches in that time)
When my lure got nailed
This water is so rich in whitefish
That the pike grow well and can afford to be picky
So now I pick one section of water and take an hour to fish out 200 meters of bank and casting every obstacle 30 times
And it's paying of

Its great when your finding a venue hard, but instead of walking away you can crack the bitch lol. great feeling Dave and the 92cm is a lovely marked fish too. I am hitting one of the big loughs tomorrow and its a ballbreaker too but does occasionally do the odd 30 Wish me luck

Had a few hours so went to the canal 5 min from my place
It's not the best water but it has a fairly decent population and it's close by
I was throwing a jerkbait for hours with absolutely 0 interest
So with about 20 minutes before I had to go home I decided to have some fun and fool around
I started blasting it very close under the surface with a lot of commotion and splashing
And on the first brutal retrieve it got nailed
A nice little 60cm witch unfortunately was hooked in a way that it took me a while to remove the hooks so it went free with no picture
(Fish wellbeing first)
And a good 4 casts later a slightly larger pike broke the surface and just missed the bait but came back for a second go
And so yet again I'm on 2 fish today
I'm having one hell of a week the pike have clearly finished spawning and are realy having it

Exciting stuff Dave, fast and furious lol I managed a 4lb and 8lb Jack today and possibly lost a 20lb plus fish at the boat when my Shimano multiplier jammed and one of the hooks broke on the bend (size 4 semi barbed). I wont sleep tonight lol.

Lures? Or deads?
I always fish at least a 2 and as big as I can get away with on the lure
But then again with lures you get away with bigger
