It's only closed to predators
So you can fish for everything else
And it is my cup of tea
It's a fort moat from napoleon's  time
It's full of trees, lily pads roots and branches
I can hit 4 possible hiding spots in one cast
And it has so much whitefish in it they grow big
It takes a sturdy reel, a beast of a jerkbait rod , 100pound braid and a load of skill to be able to keep them out of the snags
they can litterly come from anywhere because everything is cover  they even
shoot out from under your feet because there's a hollow bank
It's all close quarters
I am not going to get much sleep tonight
I feel like a kid the night before christmas

Yes admandino, I went out today, tried a venue I'm not over familiar with but really fancied it. Anyway had 5 fish to 12 pound by 10 o'clock . The river then started pulling through and the rain started bucketing down. We had to sit it out under the shelter til 4.30 until the rain slowed 😀. The river continued to pull through with a never ending deluge of weed . Gave up at 6pm and could have and should have gone home at 10 this morning, but such a great start to the day👍 Had fish of around 5, 6 and 7 a scraper double and a pretty 12 pounder. Great to see what works on new venues though..... Good experience!

Sounds good guys. I will be out next weekend. Am looking forward to it. Will be on the river too. A section I have not fished in winter, walked it in the summer, had small lures for Perch, it all looked pikey so heres hoping for the winter.

Thats a good session. You get days like that when all the fish come in a few hours then nothing for the rest of the day.

I hope to do some river fishing at the end of the month the bailiff said a salmon angler had a 25 lb pike the other week.

I am feeling good about this coming season.

Had the boat out today but only had the one jack pike. But I did fall in the lake which made my son laugh and laugh and laugh.

Post  stubbo Tue Sep 13, 2016 11:31 pm

the law is you can only have one bass per angler now per day:(

but the commercial lads are taking more than ever.... there catch rates have soared up to nine times the amount usually caught

had four fish this day but kept the one

Nice boat that. I had a Warrior 165 with a 75hp engine that would go. I was thinking that 520 with a 35hp would do lakes and bit of sea fishing. The longliner I have now is ok but bit slow only doing 7.5 mph We are thinking of going to Cork Harbour next year

depends on what you like really and the type of lake you fish..... if its a big loch you would be better with I higher freeboard type of vessel
where I fish the weather can turn in minutes , so I need to get back sharpish been away for 2 weeks.... but only got out twice due to high winds

Like you I have been around boats a few years. I purchased my first boat back in 1975 and have owned boats ever since.

In that time I have seen the good the bad and the down right ugly. I have had the longliner now for over tens I think Its

time for a change.
