Keeping up the average
Hi all, had my first double this season at exactly 12lb this morning, this after my uncle had knocked a jack off earlier on, shit with the net, (netted the double myself). Would I be right in thinking with so many jacks about the bigger fish may be elsewhere in the stretch? Or is it just the fact that there is more of them?
Anyway, 3 fish in 3 sessions is good fishing in my book.
What's the general opinion feeding times? The water I'm fishing only seems to produce early morning, have other people found this on there waters? And do I just keep trying afternoons/evenings or do I need to find an afternoons water?
Many thanks and tight lines to all, Leon

Re: Anybody Catching
I think most people would agree that early morning and late evening are best times to fish. One thing I have notice is
when you have been catching a lot on jacks It go's quiet just before something bigger turns up.
Going to try my luck tomorrow.

Re: Anybody Catching
We were out again today , full 12 hour session. I'm not usually competitive when piking with my mates but the odd one or 2 of them make it so it's exactly that. Anyway I was 3 nil down before you could say " sunken float paternoster" 😀 . 4 of us , Deano had the 3 fish at that stage, around 6, 7 and 8 pounders . I then retaliated with a massive 2 pounder😀 Before going 4-1 and then 5-1 down. To a brace of scraper doubles. But then I turned it on with a 12ib 12oz beauty and a little 6 pounder . Making it 5-3 with Fishfork and the legend that is uncle Tony blanking. Then at 6.30 this evening the alarm screamed off and 77 year old Uncle Tony had a 15-4 to wipe the smiles off our faces. He old manned us, yet again. 9 fish on the river today a few missed runs aswell. Good day. 👍 By the way , well done Leon mate, your into em 👍

Re: Anybody Catching
It would be nice Shaun.......one thing I did notice though, that place over the years was predominantly a doubles water. I would say perhaps 9 fish out of 10 were doubles once upon a time. Only a third of them yesterday made double figures. Hope we haven't lost a few bigger fish there, however it was still good sport and some lovely looking fish.

My first blank of the season. It would be to much to ask for it to be my last.

Re: Anybody Catching
Had my first pike trip on Friday, caught a couple of jacks, a 10-4 and a 12-7.
Had them all before 12:00, all from same area, maybe should have moved peg for the afternoon but the weather wasn't very good so stayed put, only had one take in the afternoon and lost it.
Not a bad start, can't wait for next trip.
Well done everyone who has been out and caught, let's hope we all get a big girl or two between now and end of march.
Tight lines everyone.

well done to all who have been out ,I have not started yet , but hope to be sorting out a new venue if I get permission
there is rumours of a very big fish in the venue over the thirty pound mark.

Re: Anybody Catching
Met up with Gary MBA , again over the weekend, always a pleasure🎣👍, we did Saturday afternoon and overnight into Sunday on a PAC syndicate water. I struggled through with a bite less session and Gary kindly showed me how it's done with 3 fish. Fish were striking all around us feeding on the tiny fry that were in abundance. They even were striking where our lines entered the water and on and around our floats. Twice I saw pike cough up tiny roach that managed to escape when the pike grabbed a mouthful of them, but when I tried wobbling a bait over them they didn't want to know. I will learn from it though and will have a plan of action for next time 👍😀. Thanks for the lesson my mate !!!!!

Re: Anybody Catching
Well done Psion, it's always mixed emotions when I get them with an old trace still attached , it sickens me to see it but then it's a great feeling when you get them out. It makes my day. I took FIVE out of one pike last season.

It can happen to anyone I know but some of the traces I see are really bad. Maybe we should have a rogue's gallery of
