Leon, that is a beauty ! It will be hard to stop smiling for a while mate. As for the welfare, it sounds as if it's gone back in better nick than when it came out mate , so we'll done on that too !
Enjoy the moment !!!!
I met up with Rozzo today and he kindly proceeded in giving me a lesson in catching, just like MBA did last week and a couple of my mates did the week before that!
Hopefully I will be into some next time !

Re: Anybody Catching
well done leon, cracking fish, fat as butter too.
Rock hard day yesterday, pissing rain early on set the tone, very few fish to the predator boats, one jack, one trout and one zed reported, one take from our boat near the south tower. My mate thought he had snagged the bottom until it moved of slow and heavy, rod bent over fully pulling for 3 or 4 mins without a turn on the handle the hook pulls.
Two gutted anglers left in total silence.

Re: Anybody Catching
Had a lovely day out today with Deano and Ju, I think we had 8 runs for 4 fish between us. A red letter spell first hour with a 19 , a 17.06 and a 16.14 . AWESOME . Then rounded off with a scraper double this afternoon. Don't know when I can get out again, but can't wait !

Re: Anybody Catching
Another shortish session this morning resulted in a fish about 12lb on the bank. Happy days!!!
Still after some advice/suggestions, I've had 10 runs in my last two sessions, but only landed 3 fish! To me this seems like a poor hook up rate! Do I just need sharper hooks? Thought mine were sharp, I've been using Drennan, super specialist, but now I think I need to change to something else???
Also what are people views on titanium wire for traces?

i doubt if its your hooks, perhaps the pike in your fishery are tentative biters (sometimes pike just pluck the baits with the very front of their mouths)
try just letting the runs develop for just a little bit longer,, its hard to say without being there and seeing how the ones you catch are hooked but it sounds as though you may be pulling the bait from them before they have chance to turn it. it's a fine line but try giving them just a few more seconds before striking. i may be wrong but i suspect you are sitting on your rods and striking at the first indication,, which is mostly the right thing to do, but in this instance i would try a couple of times just leaving it ten seconds before striking and see if things improve

Re: Anybody Catching
Two great looking pike there Craig, well done lads.
Hi Leondodd, I had the same trouble late on last season, I agree with Rozzo, just left it a few seconds longer than usual and started hooking them, but found they were small jacks no more than 5lb and all hooked in the front of the mouth.
Hope this helps.
