Re: Newbies....come and say hello
It's a bit slow Steve. We seem to be halfway between Autumn and Winter at the moment and the pike seem to be spread out all over the place. It was only a few weeks ago that all of our fish were coming from 2 feet of water. Now they seem to be a bit thin on the ground as far as shallows go. We've tried switching to some deeper water and again, the pike don't seem to be around in any great numbers but some have already made the move. My mate Andy had a 15 in about 30 feet of water last week but I wouldn't say they were climbing up the line just yet. I think once we're into Winter proper, we'll start finding the fish congregating in the deeper swims. Bear in mind the prey are spread out too still. Again, once they start to shoal up in the deeper swims, I think it's just a matter of time before the pike follow suit and we start banking the bigger girls again.
How about you mate. What's been happening at your end?

Re: Newbies....come and say hello
Hi Andy, my local rivers are all in flood at the moment, i cant see them improving for a week or two, i need to find some lake venues local to me, i have just got back from Southern Ireland, i had a great trip, solid Pike fishing for 8 days, that was wonderfull, i bagged my P.B at 24 lbs 4ozs so well chuuffed at that, so very slow for me at the minute, and a bit frustrating, we wait so long for the season to begin, and then the rivers are not fit, i guess thats fishing for you.

Re: Newbies....come and say hello
Hi fella's
My name is Adam and live in Blackpool. Got back into fishing last year after a break of 5 years. During the warmer months I don't fish a great deal as I am also into motorbikes.
I have to travel for my Pike fishing as there is not a lot available locally.

Correct, don't be shy ask as many questions as you want, whenever you want. Somebody on here will give the answer you seek.
BTW, I always think more highly of people if they ask for help and advice, it shows willingness to learn.

Re: Newbies....come and say hello
Hi everyone, my names Chris. I live in West Yorkshire and have been fishing for 40 of my 45 years. The last 25 years I have been chasing big fish. I returned to Piking 3 years ago after a 17 year lay off, that was supposed to be 1 year while I chased big winter Carp. I don't know why I left it so long to come back to it.
PB's are:-
Carp 33lb - 15 over 30.
Chub 5lb 3oz
Barbel - Don't laugh 5lb, something I intend to put write this next year.
Perch 3lb 1oz
Roach 2lb 12oz
Catfish - caught my first ever cat this last summer, so the PB is a staggering 4lb 8oz.
Pike 29lb 3oz from my previous Piking life, 20lb 6oz from this one.
