Re: Anybody Catching
Got out for a session on Friday.
The water levels on my association water are still well up so choosing pegs is still hit and miss
After an hour in my second swim the left hand rod was away but as it came in I thought there was nothing there?
Well not surprising really. The pike must have weighed all of a pound! Lol
Once it stopped raining I up sticks and walked a good 5mins or so across to the next lake, where within 10mins I had a take on the right hand rod which resulted in a jack of around 6 or 7lb.
I moved once more after that but nothing doing.
Well not a bad day considering, as the conditions didn't give me much hope at the begining of the day and I avoided a blank

Re: Anybody Catching
well done. it's the take that gets the heart rate up isn't it so 2 fish regardless of size is a successful outing.
gonna try trotting a few sprats on a local river later but it's peeing down at the moment. trying out a new setup with a big single hook. hope it works as i'm thinking of adapting it for bigger baits too.

Re: Anybody Catching
Single hooks work well Rozzo.
I used them a while ago and they get nailed in the scissors of the mouth everyime.
Damn easy to unhook

Re: Anybody Catching
thats what i'm after
nothing against trebles but i'd like to move away from them for some of my fishing if poss, i know adie has had a fair bit of success with a double single hook rig. have to check that out sometime. what i'm looking at is a single, single in the middle of the bait. may not work with bigger baits but if you don't try? to keep things in line i'll be passing the trace through the gill slit and out of the mouth of the bait. that may even be a plus cos i may get some of the baits back too and being from yorkshire and tight thats always a good thing

Re: Anybody Catching
First time out on Wednesday, too busy at work at the minute, Sithee caught his personal best 24lbs, i had a 10lber which was mauled by a big girl on the way in, I put the fish back in the water but wondered if I had done the right thing, it swam off strongly so i hope it survives, I have seen them with worse scars so fingers crossed it should live to fight another day

Re: Anybody Catching
Lovely fish Sithee. I'd give that fish a few months and then go after her again. I'm pretty sure she'll be a few pounds heavier by then.
