hi guys. went to the canal today for a couple of hours after work. hooked a fair sized pike, but pulled out of it half way across one high light though was that i had a new pb perch not as big as some of you lads have had, but at 1lb 10oz i was well chuffed. its only took me 15 years to beat my pb ???? cought it on a small mepps type spinner. all the best guys. Had a bash at a pond for the first time on Saturday, 3 runs, missed one, lost one and landed one at 6lb.
Enjoyed it but the bl**dy kids get annoying!

Re: Anybody catching?
Went fishing today with a new fishing partner in crime at one of my local ressies but the pike weren't having it. Tried 4 rods with sardines and mackerel for bait but we didn't get so much as a line bite all day. It was a nice day all the same and the company was good so I'm not complaining.

Adie, you may or may not do this already but I always have an ESP buffer bead on my line, before I add my trace, when lure fishing. This allows me to worry less about smashing my tip-ring at the last few feet of the retrieve. I tend to find a lot of pike are following my lure so rather than slow down my retrieve at the last few turns on the handle, I speed up and this often warrants a take. The other thing this allows me to do, is fish into the dark, again, without fear of smashing my tip-ring to smithereens. It's only a little bead and it makes such a difference.

Re: Anybody catching?
You can thank Dave Kelbrick for that one. I just took it slightly further by using a big soft ESP buffer-bead but the reasons for having it there are the same.

Norfolk Broads.
Fished the stretch of River yesterday, and caught a 5lb Jack and a 14lb'er. Both on a floating diver perch lure. Better than the 11lb'er from a Broad on Monday on a jelly shad....Because of the mild weather they don't seem to have gone into the boatyards much yet though...give it a bit of a cold snap and that's where they'll be!!

Re: Anybody catching?
Well, where do i start, Myself and my mate Wayne (Wanna) spent a couple of hours on the lures and both blanked, , we then tried a river but blanked again, . so in a last ditched attempt we filled the car with petrol and set off to a few drains we know near Lincoln. We arrived at about 1 P.M. and took a rod each and a variety of lures. By 3 P.M. I had caught 5 pike and missed a few and Wayne had banked 7 also missing a few. Nothing big, but 12 fish between 5 lb and 8 lb in 2 hours made a bad start to the day turn out alright, . We`ll be giving it a go again soon. Full day this time though.

Re: Anybody catching?
hi guys. well went for about 5hrs today with my son, down to a local water and managed to land 3 fish, 5lb, 8lb and 13lb 11oz. great weather and good fishing what else can you ask for. funny enough the biggest fish is a fish i had 2 years ago to the week, from the same peg, and the same bait(sardine). i guess some pike just dont like to move far. all the best guys.

Fishing this afternoon at the river Ancholme, Brandy Wharf.
Had a couple of reasonably sized Pike this afternoon, using Sprat fresh from Tescos!! Cheap and affective!!
Need to invest in some scales however to start logging my PB.......

Re: Anybody catching?
Nice looking fish there, Steve
Bait from Tesco's eh, i am lucky enough to have a fishmonger near me, there aren't many left in Nottingham, now. I will see if i can pick up some Sardines or Sprats. Failing that, maybe Sainsbury's. If all fails, will buy some blast frozen from the local tackle shop. Haven't noticed many photo's on here, maybe i have been looking in the wrong place...?

Re: Anybody catching?
Lads, I don't want to have to mod posts but can you please be a little less specific about where you're fishing. If you've been fishing the River Shineyburn, that'll do. We don't have to know that you were fishing opposite Farmer Brown's land, down beside the old mill, over the broken fence, down the bank 70 yards and under the old oak tree...lol
By all means ask for directions and by all means give directions but use the PM function.
Fill us in on how you've been getting on, what you've been catching, what methods you've using, what successes or failures you've been experiencing, what you saw, what made you laugh or cry etc. but limit the venue information a little bit. These areas might be someone elses banker swims, local waters, favourite swims etc.
Your input is absolutely essential and it's always appreciated. A little more discretion though troops.....(shhhhhhhh!!)
Thank Y'all.....
