nearest one is westlands angling, but TBH they aren't great for predator stuff - the sell frozen baits etc - depends what you are after.
Alternative would be in Hull.
I also don't think that either opens early on a sunday...

You could try Chapmans in Hull (HU13 9NH) but don't open until 9am
Otter - Lakes 2 and 3 have been booked. Not many fish lake 1 but if you fancy your chances?

there's also Star Carr down the road - but not sure what time they open and they are more fly fishing orientated. They do have some bits and bobs which might help tho.

Good idea!
Their lake opens at 7.30am so I'd imagine the shop not long after.
There contact number is 01964 543 466 if you wanted to try them on your way down.

not sure what time he opens on a sunday but i'd hazard a guess that it'll be earlier than chapmans. give him a ring when you get over this way.

Good day folks - shame there was not much out - it seems to be the curse of the fish-ins!
Nice to have a chat and laugh with you all and soak up some spring sunshine.
Makk - cheers for doing business - i'm sure it will keep you happy and dry for a few seasons

It was a good day, the weather if anything was too good, great to meet Alex and Nightwatchman, and good to see Tootall, Andy, Baz, and Robh again, as Tootall said earlier, the fish ins are not for catching fish

Re: Barton, Lincs Fish-in
Well, the day finally arrived and slowly everyone started to arrive for the fish-in.
(well done to the lads who made the long journeys!)
It had been -4 overnight and there was a hard frost on the ground that made putting in bank sticks rather difficult!
But as the morning wore on the sun came out and everything started to warm up nicely, with some even getting out the sunglasses.
Everyone soon got into the spirit of things and started mingling and passing on advice and tips about how to catch those elusive Pike.
It has been an early start for some so a nap was in order!.
'tootall' had the first knock on his float but didn't come to anything.
Next the 'nightwatchman' had a short run but what ever it was dropped the bait.
'tootall' was curious as to what bait he was using and soon as he found out, he did the same. This resulted in the first Pike of the day.
The rest of the day was hard going. Most started to move pegs, swims and even ponds!
No more Pike were caught and it soon got around to 4ish when some decided to call it a day, but time for a group photo shot.
I think everyone enjoyed the day and the weather was terrific even though not conducive to Pike fishing!
Not sure if any of the lads who carried on fishing caught anything, but I'm sure you will be quick to tell us if you did.

Re: Barton, Lincs Fish-in
well.... alex had a run shortly after the majority of you packed up and i accidentally missed it while trying to demonstrate how to hit a run on a deadbait
apart from that nothing else happened.
nice to meet you all again (and half of you for the first time).... its true this does seem to be a curse at these "fish ins".
i look forward to seeing you all again soon.
best regards to all
robh

Re: Barton, Lincs Fish-in
A shame no more pike came out But thats how our fish-ins go
Why spoil it by catching more pike
Maybe we should try having a fish-in weres theres some fish
Oh well it sounds like you all had a good time anyway And thats what matters

Re: Barton, Lincs Fish-in
well i dear say I'm knackerd,
Bit of a bad start as my alarm seems to have off days
I soon rushed and got all my gear except my boots
me and bazz arrived at almost 8:00 and met rob first followed by tootall ,steve and andy. and got set up,
When i got set up all that i needed was a swinger which bazz has kindly got me from his tackle shop(the internet and my shops seemed out of stock) he also showed me to pop up a deadbait with a balsa stick. and i (with the help of bazz) set it up and soon settled. i got my breakfast on as well as a brew. not long after i soon got a bit bored so took a walk to see how the rest got on, by this time tootall has had the first fish, and asked about his little baitcaster, he said it was bust as it made a funny noise. and soon went to the bivvy it is huge!!!!!!!!to me anyway, i will put it to good use. and soon had a power nap felt more refreshed and noticed rob and his brother in law had moved near me. i started playing with my lures as the sun was shinnig soon after me and robs bro in law started to take turn casting with my lures (snagged quiet a bit but got out easy) i asked rob about the line gate on my new swing and he had shown me to set it the best way.and soon carried on chucking lures.
everyone started to have enough and started departing soon it was me, bazz, rob and robs bro in law left. bazz started to pack up slowly and so did I rob noticed something with my lind and flicked my swinger off, he soon pointed out that i was on a run with me itching to strike rob was explaining to me how to strike correctly and missed the bleeder i was not botherd as i was learning from rob. the day ended when i had just packed my rod away.
Had some laughs.
had some fun
The best parts were when i was learning and meeting the other half of the gang.
