Well, this season got off to a start with just the one fish - a nicely marked pike of around 8-9lb.
Had to be guesstimated due to Gavin not fetching his scales. Again!  

As Gavin said when he was playing it: "Feels a lot bigger than it looks."

It certainly gave a good account of itself and was NOT happy at being hooked. But it got it's own back on Gavin.
Claret flowed rather well from 3 fingers!

7 fish to 16lb on saturday. all at my private lake and NOT my trout lake, after getting a text 715am saying hes sorry he forgot about a shoot   

not to worry just means 2 more weeks of baiting  

Just done a 48hr stint, I blanked spectacularly but my mate got 8 fish to 20lb 2oz. If I knew I was only gonna be a cameraman I wouldn't have taken so much gear with me.

May be heading out this weekend for a few hours in the early hours of the morning to try a few different holes and bag me a BIG UN  

I was out yesterday, after blanking the last two trips it was good to catch, had 3 jacks biggest 8lb. One had someone's trace

left in it, the size of hooks some people use makes me angry. Out again Monday next weekend off to a trout water.

me and our kid been out today had a good range of fish from 3lb to approx. 15lb landed on a deadbaits and big replicant lures well the biggest in the range .
Found we were getting better results on the bigger lures  than the usual smaller rubbers
Learnt something new today by accident really .....cast out a big replicant then a young swan came from the left so reeled in like crazy ultra fast and when the lure got to the bank a huge pike followed right in  that got the heart pounding .
The next cast I tried reeling in as fast as I could which resulted in another follow from a very big pike probably the same fish  I would say well over 20lb judging by the thickness across its back .
so that was the order off the day reel in like hell to get the takes  don't normally reel in that fast  but this really paid off
As soon as our kid did the same the fish just kept coming
We ended up landing 8 fish and probably hooked another 8  but gutted when I hooked and lost the big one but it only had the tail end in its mouth.......... will upload some photos shortly:D .

Week-end from HELL....  .. oR WHAT A WEEK-END, Heavy rain, winds of 70mph(IF NOT STRONGER),  really bad,, did break up this morning, but i think the damage was done on saturday,( all day )...no fish,, been till the last few hours drying the kit out:x

me and and our kid braved the storm and reaped the rewards..........gusted up to eighty mph we were told

managed one jack in the storm from hell lol,, all pike are good pike  

this pike took the replicant so hard and fast you can just see the jrk bait wire sticking out....

this sod had my finger

must be slowing up it thrashed its head and was not fast enough this time

think this one caught on dead roach....

the pike didnt mind the big lures this was the smaller rubbers we used

it was a ideal session to perfect my lure fishing

i was bleeding like a pig
