Re: Anybody Catching
went out today to a local still water. when i got there it was half frozen . bit of open water though, so set up there without much hope. managed 2 small jacks, but on a cold day they were most welcome

2 runs in 3 days
Got this a couple of weeks ago on a 3 day sesh, only had 2 runs in the 3 days, a dropped bait and this nice girl at 14lb 4oz.
It was quite a strange run, had a single beep on the alarm then nothing for about 5 mins and after getting back into the sleeping bag another single beep then about 1 min later it took off and was hooked in the mouth so hadn't taken it the 1st time (any thoughts on this delay are welcome)
Cheers
Stuart

Re: Anybody Catching
Looks a bit cold!! first signs of proper winter slows them down for few weeks till they get accustomed. When i used to fish with optonics and bobbins there would be runs when the bobbin fluttered up and down and inch the the optonic wouldnt bleep. I took this as the pike sitting over the bait moving the line with its fins just looking at the bait. Would tend to find that if i unclipped the bobbin it created just the slightest of movement in the bait that was enough for the pike to pike up the bait and run....

Re: Anybody Catching
Done another 2 day saesh at the weekend with better results.
Had 7 fish to the bank with this being the biggest..14lb 6oz, another at 8.5, 1 about 5lb and 4 jacks between 1-4lb.
When I had it in the net I thought it was about 18lb and was wanting it to be 20 because the belly on it was huge but had a very small head which ended up being 14lb 6oz (checked with 2 sets of scales as always )

Couple of hours on a new water...
The car was in for some warranty work and they wanted it for the whole day so, as the garage is about 120 miles from home, I took their courtesy car up a forestry track (looked like I'd been rallying when I got it back to them) and dropped in on a new water I'd seen plenty of times but never fished.
What a place, otters, salmon running the river into the loch, snow topped mountains and a 10lb 4oz beauty that was as fat as a barrell. Took float fished lamprey section on the bottom and sped off like a train (I just put the bail arm over and pulled into it as it was running off) then fought like merry hell, right to the net.
Nice when a plan falls into place - I'll definitely be back.
While I'm on - I'm off to the Midlands (Wolverhampton) between Christmas and New year and fancied a day piking on the Severn. Although I used to live there, I've forgotten most of the places I used to fish and, as my membership from the Prince Albert Angling Club is on hold as I've not been down for a while, my options are a bit limited. I wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction for a one off, one day session? I appreciate the 'no naming waters rule' so, if you feel able, you can send me a pm.
Hope someone can advise. Cheers all.
